Blackface is a heavy makeup used to darken white faces so actors could play stereotyped and demeaning Black roles. So why is this still going on in 2009?

As much outrage as I tried to communicate to my friends about the blackface used in the film Tropic Thunder, nobody joined me in boycotting the film. "but it was funny", they'd say. hmph.
